Image shows a man on a submerged dock petting a nurse shark.

Location” isn’t everything. It’s a boat. More specifically, it is a 55-foot catamaran based in Nassau, Bahamas. The luxury ship offers charter excursions that the traveler can design, as well as snorkeling with sharks. The boat is a floating five-star hotel with full amenities and gourmet food. When you snorkel with the sharks, you will be guided by seasoned professionals to keep you safe while you mingle with nurse sharks.

Nurse sharks are typically non-aggressive. As with all sharks, there is some danger, so expect to learn about the animals. It is very important to follow all instructions if opting for this activity. The Location crew has a special dock that is a nurse shark gathering spot. They jokingly call the submerged dock a “sharking lot” and a “shark park.”

At the Sharking Lot party!!! Who’s brave enough to jump in???🦈 Please remember to always respect sea creatures. While it’s extremely unlikely a nurse shark would attack a human, they can get confused and could mistake your finger (or foot in our case🤣) for food. Typically bites are very mild but you don’t want to be the recipient of one. If you see a shark, only swim with it if your with a professional. If you want to swim with these guys, consider booking a sailing charter with us aboard Location. #SharkWhisperers #sharks #bahamas #nurseshark #nursesharks #exumas #exumasbahamas #thebahamas #bucketlist #bucketlisttravel #travelgoals #travelideas #vacationgoals #vacationideas #traveling #compasscaymarina #sharksofcompasscay #marinelife #oceanlife #petshark #summervacation #summertravel #familyvacation #sailingadventures #teammeeting #toptravel #vacationdestination #sailingholiday #marina DM @sailing_location for licensing requests

The sharks that visit the dock are looking for attention, and they are familiar with human interaction. As the man on the dock points out, though, they may bite, so you need to be careful. He recites a sort of anthem with the sharks similar to the credo that Bruce the Shark has in “Finding Nemo.” As the man navigates to the counter area at the end of the dock, he carefully looks for “a less teethy spot” to walk. The crew has named some of the regular sharks.

Staff warn that while it is extremely unlikely that a nurse shark will bite, they might experience confusion and mistake human bits and pieces as food. They warn to only swim with sharks if you are with a professional.

If you are in the Bahamas and want to see nurse sharks, schedule an excursion. Or visit the submerged dock and pet the sharks that hang out there.
