Foal Prances Around Like A Princess With The Fanciest Footwork You’ve Ever Seen

Image shows a six-week-old Arabian foal who prances elegantly.

Dove was born around April 1, 2025. The little foal has been a joy around the farm. Although she has had a few clumsy moments, as all newborns will, she has become a graceful little lady. Breeders spend years training horses to prance the way this foal prances naturally.

Annie Whelan presents Dove, a six-week-old chestnut Arabian ready to take on the world. This little foal prances around with the confidence of a seasoned show horse. When the little animal isn’t strutting her stuff, she runs full-tilt, showing off her speed.

The small Kentucky farm is home to several beautiful horses, so little Dove will have some competition as she grows. However, if her early prancing is an indicator, this little foal will be a premium show or riding horse someday.

Arabian horses are smaller in stature than many “ranch” breeds. They average about 14 to 16 hands tall and weigh 800 to 1,000 pounds. The breed is graceful and finely boned but robust and powerful. They were a favorite and cherished warhorse and are the oldest recognized breed worldwide. Their origins in the harsh desert conditions give them supreme athleticism and endurance. They have excellent balance and excel in almost all horse sports.

Arabian horses make excellent distance trail riders, able to handle intense heat and rugged terrain. They are agile and quick, making them equally suitable for activities such as barrel racing. Arabian horses have the elegance of premium dressage horses and the speed of thoroughbred horses. They function equally well as show or ranch horses.
