Dads and moms have a profound impact on their daughters. The early years of development are crucial for raising a confident, happy little one, but once they start school it’s easy to feel out of the loop. But instead of rushing off in the morning, the dad in the video below has a wonderful tradition with his daughter that makes all the difference in her day and experience in the world… its impact is just incredible.
Every morning, he recites a simple set of daily affirmations with his daughter to set the tone for the day. His daughter repeats after him while they look in the mirror and say things like “I am smart. I am the best… But I am not better than anyone else.” It’s precious to see, but so much more than just a cute video.
Pediatrician Meg Meeker wrote a book entitled Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters that gives some serious insight into the importance of healthy father, daughter relationships. Her observations are groundbreaking.
“I have watched daughters talk to fathers. When you come into the room, they change. Everything about them changes: their eyes, their mouths, their gestures, their body language. Daughters are never lukewarm in the presence of their fathers. They might take their mothers for granted, but not you.”
