Crowd Boos When Simon Cowell Halts Performance But The Result Has Them Singing Along.

Cakra Khan sings on the "AGT" stage with his eyes closed.

Cakra Khan’s audition for “America’s Got Talent” likely didn’t go the way he expected it would. When he first took to the stage, the 31-year-old from Indonesia told the judges a bit about himself. Through this conversation, we learn that he’s passionate about blues and soul music. Still, when asked what he’d do with the $1 million prize if he won, he said that he’d want to have an animal shelter.

With that dream in mind, Cakra began to sing a moving rendition of “Make It Rain.” The audience reacted well to his unique, raspy voice, but Simon Cowell wasn’t quite feeling it. He stopped the music, prompting new fans of Cakra to boo. Cowell explained that while he had a great voice, he wasn’t a fan of the song, asking if he had another one prepared. Luckily, he did.

Hoping that the second time would be a charm, Cakra explained that he’d be singing “No Woman, No Cry,” a song his dad would frequently play before school. As excited as the audience initially was about his voice, they were all-the-more elated with this second performance. When the chorus hit and he asked them to sing along, they gladly did, creating a beautiful moment for them all.

“It’s so rare to hear voices like that,” Cowell said. “The second song, and getting to know you, makes you more interesting. It makes me feel like you’re more of an artist. I absolutely love your voice. Love it.”
