Mark Chestnutt was scheduled to open for Alabama on October 16. But right before the performance, he was rushed to the hospital for a medical emergency. According to People, his publicist, Don Murry Grubbs, released a statement about his health a few days later.

“Mark was admitted to Baton Rouge General Hospital on Thursday morning after his flight arrived for the concert with Alabama. Doctors determined he had a low sodium count and very high blood pressure. He’s stable,” the message reads. “Mark wants to apologize the fans who came to see him in Baton Rouge and also to those who had planned to see him yesterday in Portales, New Mexico. He hopes to be back to perform in both cities soon. At this time, I don’t have any update on if any additional future shows will be affected.”
Mark Chestnutt Just Posted A New Message On Social Media
On October 28, fans heard directly from Mark Chestnutt for the first time since his illness.
“Hey everybody! I just wanted you to know that we will be back on the road starting November 7th. I’m feeling great and ready to see y’all. Check out my website to find shows near you. See ya! -MC,” Mark wrote on Facebook.
Fans felt relieved to finally see a personal message from Mark.
“Alright, can’t keep a country boy down,” a fan wrote.
“Good to hear!! One of my favorite 90’s country singers!! Love you and your music!! Take care of yourself!!” Anohter person shared.
One Mark Chestnutt fan wrote a very sweet message to the country singer.
“Dude I know you have dates and you don’t want the heart to define you, but as your fan we all totally understand. We want you here and don’t want you to overdue it and then your heart does defines your end with a big heart attack. Get strong,” they wrote.
