“Priscilla Pointer, May 18th, 1924-April 28th, 2025. Priscilla Pointer, acclaimed stage television, and film actress, and mother of David, Katie, and Amy Irving, died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 100, hopefully to run off with her 2 adoring husbands and her many dogs. She most definitely will be missed,” Amy shared on Instagram.

Priscilla Pointer Acted For Decades

According to the Los Angeles Times, Priscilla Pointer began acting in New York City in the 1940s.

“Priscilla had a long acting career. She met her first husband, Jules Irving, in Europe just after WWII in an army production of ‘Brother Rat,’” the family shared in a statement. “They returned to the U.S. and formed the Actor’s Workshop in San Francisco. The company eventually took over the Vivian Beaumont Theater in NYC.”

She and Jules were married from 1947 until he died in 1979. They shared three children and settled in Santa Monica in the early 1970s, and her career took off. News of Priscilla Pointer’s passing saddened fans.

“Sorry for your loss but what a wonderful long life. So beautiful. Obviously the acorn (which didn’t fall far from) is now the tree,” someone shared on Amy’s Instagram post.

Another fan commented, “So sad to hear, but what a great run. My wife and I have been working through Dallas on Amazon Prime and we were just thinking of her the other day. Lots of love to you and your family.”

This fan left one of their favorite Priscilla Pointer quotes in the comments, “Awwww. Sorry for your loss, Amy. Rest in peace Priscilla! In the words of Priscilla in Carrie, ‘I’ll drink to that!’”
