The restaurant business is anything but easy. Even if millions of customers love your brand, sometimes love isn’t enough. We can think of dozens of chain restaurants that once appeared on every corner and have all but disappeared. The Ground Round was a staple in the American restaurant industry. The chain once boasted more than 200 locations across the United States. In the 1980s and 1990s, families flocked to the restaurant for a delicious burger and ice cream. But by the early 2000s, competition became too steep, and the company declared bankruptcy. More than two decades later, the Ground Round is back and better than ever.

The New Ground Round Opened in Massachusetts
The chain began in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and that’s where the new Ground Round recently opened. According to the company’s website, “The re-imagined and reinvented Ground Round successfully honors its legacy while catering to a modern dining experience. It’s a place where you can relive fond childhood memories while savoring a thoughtfully prepared, high-quality meal. It’s not just a comeback; it’s a revival, a testament to the enduring appeal of good food, good company, and the comforting embrace of nostalgia, now served with an elevated twist. The warm, inviting atmosphere encourages gatherings, laughter, and the kind of unpretentious camaraderie that defined the original. Come rediscover the magic.”
The restaurant’s reinvention also comes with a new mascot, a dog. The restaurant shared a photo its new mascot on Instagram and fans love him already.
“Many have asked about Bingo The Clown. Bingo is off enjoying retirement. Meet our new mascot The Ground Round Hound. And we need YOUR help in finding a name for our new friend.”
“Grover! The ground round hound! Or Roofus,” someone suggested.
“Pound the hound from Ground Round,” another person wrote.
No word on the mascot’s name, but fans can’t wait to get in for a delicious dose of nostalgia.
