Anonymous Donor Leaves Wedding Rings And Note In Salvation Army Kettle For The Most Heartwarming Reason.

Note from a widow that's partially cut off. What we can read is this: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 Below the note is a wedding band and engagement ring with a square diamond.

If you’ve ever gone shopping around the holiday season then, odds are, you’ve come across folks taking donations for the Salvation Army — they’re the ones who ring bells in order to spread Christmas cheer. Over the years, this organization has helped countless people in need, all with the help of the donations they receive. Then, in 2014, the Salvation Army received an unexpected gift in the form of rings.

Without saying a word, a widow placed her rings into a Salvation Army red kettle. This incredible act of kindness has and continues to inspire others to make similar donations, many of which value at over $1,000.

Even though this has been going on for nearly a decade now, that doesn’t make these donations any less special. That’s why, just last week, a Salvation Army in Massachusetts happily shared the generous donation they received: rings from a widow.

Salvation Army Receives Rings as Donations

“What started with a widow quietly dropping her wedding rings into The Salvation Army USA red kettle around 2014 has spawned acts of jewelry generosity this holiday season and in years since,” the local Salvation Army says on Facebook. “Look what we found in a kettle this week at the bustling Market Basket in Waltham!”

This kind widow didn’t just leave her rings. She also left a heartfelt note.

Note from a widow that reads:

Christmas 2023.

This ring is being given in love for a second time. Like the first time, I hope that this ring will bring joy and make a difference.

“This ring is being given in love for a second time,” the note reads. “Like the first time, I hope that this ring will bring joy and make a difference.”

Just like the first widow who made such a selfless donation, this widow’s kindness continues to inspire others, making her donation worth so much more than monetary value.
