“A Mama Deer Gave Birth To Triplets In Our Backyard And It’s Been The Most Magical Thing…”

At a distance, a family of three deer stands next to a tree. There's a mom and three does, triplets

While it’s usually not recommended to intentionally attract wildlife to your backyard, there’s nothing wrong with appreciating the ones that insist on being there! That seems to be Elisabeth’s approach. Her Washington backyard is clearly the perfect location for a family of deer, because a mom recently gave birth to triplets here. That’s right, triplets!

Needless to say, this mama deer wants to find places that will be safe for her little ones. And it’s clear that Elisabeth’s backyard is one of them. In the week after Mom gave birth, she and her babies have spent quite a lot of time there. Elisabeth has managed to capture many of these sweet moments on camera, as seen in the video below.

“[Momma is] looking at you like she’s sizing you up for fawn sitting,” one commenter jokes in reply to Elisabeth’s video, another adding, “This is incredible and probably more rare than we think. I’ve never heard of triplets. Beautiful babies and mama.”

According to the National Deer Association, spotting deer triplets actually is pretty rare. Only 5.2% of pregnant deer have triplets — that’s one in 19. In other words, Elisabeth truly is oh-so-lucky to have had this sweet deer family choose her home as a safe place. Get a closer look at them in the video below!

In the caption of that video, Elisabeth was happy to share that “Mama and babies look like they’re doing great.” This is so wonderful to hear! After her videos blew up online, there are countless people invested in this sweet deer family.

“I would not get anything done around the house,” someone admits in the comments. “I would be watching them all day!”
