Sometimes it’s better to give in on some arguments. When Jess Corcoran’s husband wanted a black swimming pool, she decided to roll with it. What began as his dream is now her obsession. The peanut gallery had a lot to say about their choice. Not much of it is positive. However, Jess is utilizing her platform to dispel incorrect myths and do a little bragging.

Mythbusters: Black Pool Edition
Living in Arizona, everyone said a black pool would absorb sunlight and make the water unbearably hot. Myth busted. Jess keeps a thermometer in the pool, and her water temperature has never gone above human body temperature (98.6°F).
Next, people told her she wouldn’t be able to see children in the water. Myth busted. Jess dropped a child’s swimsuit into the water, and it was visible from the dock without any issues. One commenter asked if she was worried about sharks. Jess didn’t even bother answering that silliness.
Meanwhile, with the black pool done, Jess is moving on to the rest of the yard.
Perhaps one of the most humorous comments was a brief exchange between two people who were hamming it up. Some of the comments are off the rails, but it didn’t seem to matter at that moment.

The zombie plague was a nice touch. All in all, Jess reports many more positives than negatives. She states the pool isn’t as dark as it could be. The dark surface of the water at night looks like a black mirror used in scrying (psychic divination seeking answers). The concept of black pools is decades old and not an innovation. Their increasing popularity has led to us seeing them more commonly.
Jess and her husband have no complaints.
