“She was the Social Secretary for the adult social group at St. Mary’s cathedral in San Francisco. There was a dance coming up and I bought two tickets from her even though I didn’t have a date, hoping that she would be my date. While buying them, I slyly asked her if she would like to go with me since I had an extra ticket. She said yes. Then for a reason I can’t remember, we attended the next dance after that with other people. We spent the whole night extremely jealous while watching each other dance with our respective dates. We were engaged a few months later on Valentine’s Day. We were together through 58 years of marriage, 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Even though my sweetheart passed away almost 3 years ago, I still talk to her every day and our love is still very much alive.”
