1 Step At A Time, Man Helps Parrot Overcome Birth Defect — The Result Is Beautiful!

a two-photo collage. the first is of tassin elmahgoub smiling as he watches his parrot start to walk on his own. the second is of yassin jumping up and down from excitement.

With a little time and a lot of care, this sweet parrot is one step closer to being able to spread his wings and fly!

When Yassin Elmahgoub and Sara Haytham first discovered the little guy, they weren’t sure if that would ever be possible. He was born with a birth defect, making him unable to stand or walk. They knew he’d never have a chance of making it alone, so the two of them worked together over the course of months to nurse the baby bird back to health.

This meant giving him “days and hours of support and physiotherapy.” During this time, the bond between them grew until, finally, the moment they had been working toward finally happened!

Yassin gently placed the little guy onto a soft surface and, within seconds, he was happily on his feet and moving around all by himself! In an instant, Yassin began to jump all around the room from excitement, and his reaction is absolutely contagious! Finally, he held the parrot close to him as he cried tears of joy.

“This is the best thing that happened to me in a while,” Yassin wrote. “All it takes is one person to save a life. @Sara Haytham couldn’t do it without you.”

Watch Yassin joyously react to his baby parrot walk for the first time below, and don’t forget to share.
