“It’s a historic day here in the CBS television city parking lot,” says the voice-over at the beginning of the video below. “This is the race that sports fans have been waiting for.” It’s actor, comedian, and Late Late Show host James Corden vs. 9-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt, running a 100-meter race.
The entire staff of the Late Late Show (“made up of all sorts of non athletic people,” according to the voice-over) are there to race as well, whether they had planned on participating or not… Oh, and Owen Wilson is there. It’s unclear why Owen Wilson would be there, but who doesn’t love Owen Wilson?
After a false start from Owen, the race begins. Owen is immediately lost in the crowd of running bodies, James is a little easier to spot since he’s wearing bright yellow, but you’ll have no problem following Usain Bolt as he flies ahead of the rest of the crowd, easily winning!
Owen Wilson– “national treasure”– claims he won’t make any excuses for his losing… But he is feeling a bit jet-lagged, and he might have a cold, and the microphone may or may not have slowed him down….
“I would’ve liked to have been in the top 15, but it’s wasn’t my day.” joked James. “That’s the life of a professional track athlete!”
