When Mary Ann Van Der Horst stepped on stage at X-Factor Australia, you could tell she was just a little bit nervous. Though confident she had a good voice, Mary Ann admitted to the judges that her husband wasn’t too fond of her singing. But the young woman decided to take a chance and audition for the show anyway.
The 28-year-old Filipino went on to tell a hilarious story of how she met her husband. Mary Ann found her now 22-year-old husband on Facebook and decided to ‘go get him.’ Though he may not be fond of her singing, the young man showed up to the audition anyway to support her.
We can only hope the opinion he expressed was meant to push Mary Ann to audition for the X-Factor. Either way, it’s a good thing she did.
From the moment Mary Ann began to sing, no one in the room could keep their eyes off of her. With a powerful voice and a range that would make Beyonce jealous, the young woman belted out a version of the song ‘Halo’ that did more than justice to the original.
