Ellen DeGeneres recently announced that she’s decided to donate to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in an effort to help in the fight to save the world’s elephant population. “Elephants show compassion, sympathy, social intelligence, self-awareness,” she said on her show.
It’s not clear which elephant sanctuary the below video was taken at, but the interaction between a man and a little calf is evidence enough that the creatures are emotional beings, just like you or me.

The video starts with the elephant flopping down onto the man’s chest. While this probably wasn’t the comfiest of positions for the guy, he looks positively delighted to have such a unique experience with the big baby!
We’re guessing the sanctuary staff gave him a heads-up before the cuddling started because he shows no fear whatsoever. He just grins broadly as the baby drapes her trunk over him and explores his face with her mouth, her eyes rolling back in a picture of pure contentment.

Since it was published in December 2016, this playful and completely adorable bonding moment between human and pachyderm has gotten hundreds of comments. People the world over have gone gaga over the video, even though it only lasts for just about a minute:
