“Lost Boys” Of Sudan Are Stunned By American Way Of Life. An Eye-Opening Perspective.

After suffering through years of Civil War and unimaginable hardship, these “Lost Boys’ of Sudan were brought to America, where they were introduced to things like showers, electricity, doughnuts, and Santa Claus. They found some differences to be entertaining, but others made them feel isolated and ostracized.

The contrast is stunning, and the video below highlights it in an incredible fashion.

Feeling at home is something the Lost Boys have missed for years. Since the Second Sudanese Civil War in 1983, over 20,000 boys ages 7-17 have been displaced.

Fleeing from violence the boys trekked between 700-1000 miles: from Sudan to Ethiopia, back to Sudan, and then to a refugee camp in Kenya. Only half of the original boys made it to  Kenya alive.

In 2001 the horrible state of the refugee camp gave the American government reason to relocate 4,000 of these young men to the U.S.The boys in this video are some of the 4,000.

Their ability to rise to above challenges is remarkable. Unlike Peter Pan’s lost boys, they have no Wendy. They just have each other.  Perhaps their smiles are all that are familiar to them.

Watch the video below to see what it is like for them!
