“He already has a head start from Kubus — a boy who didn’t make it in time but whose amazing parents decided to pass on the funds they collected,” she wrote in Polish on her Facebook. “And in this way, I also want to help. It’s for him that I am auctioning my Olympic silver medal.”

Maria Andrejczyk Never Predicted What Would Happen Next

Żabka, a Polish supermarket chain, won the auction for Maria Andrejczyk’s silver medal with a bid of $125,000, ESPN reported. Maria, a cancer survivor, understands the importance of great medical care.

“A medal is only an object, but it can be of great value to others. This silver can save lives, instead of collecting dust in a closet,” Maria said.

According to an Instagram post, Miłoszek’s family raised half of the $385,000 needed for the baby’s surgery. Maria’s medal helped significantly increase the number. But to make the gesture even more amazing, Zabka returned the medal to Maria.

“There is still good people in this world, that’s how we fight the darkness,” someone commented.

“That is so amazing and amazing of them to return the medal, too!” Another person added.

Maria Andrejczyk’s story evoked many emotions.

“Made me cry!!!! What a beautiful woman and gesture from buyer x,” someone wrote.

“thank you GOD good people still exists in this tough world,” another person agreed.
