Richard Stanczyk, a fishing guide in Islamorada, Florida, loves his time on the water. Being among sea creatures makes his life full. When you’re out on a boat, you never know what you might see in the ocean. Just before Valentine’s Day, Richard caught a glimpse of manatees sharing a private moment in public. The two large manatees appeared to be sharing a smooch right near the dock. Even as Richard filmed, they didn’t seem to care who knew about their love affair.

These Manatees Shared on Heck of a Smooch
Richard shared a video of their manatees smooching on Instagram, set to romantic music.
“Manatee make out session! Happy Valentine’s Day!” He joked in the caption.
According to Save the Manatee, the smooch was probably nothing more than a fling.
“Manatees do not form permanent pair bonds like some animal species. During breeding, a single female, or cow, will be followed by a group of a dozen or more males or bulls, forming a mating herd,” the organization explains. “They appear to breed indiscriminately during this time; however, the age experience of some males in the herd probably plays a role in breeding success.”
Richard’s followers didn’t seem to care. They loved the sweet manatee smooch.
“If my Valentine’s Day doesn’t look like this, I don’t want it,” someone joked.
“OMG, that so adorable. Love birds,” another person wrote.
“Awwww…. We love the manatees!” A comment reads.
Even though the experts claim the manatee smooch is nothing but a passing fancy, fans still think they deserve to enjoy themselves without all the paparazzi following them.
“Give them some privacy. It’s Valentine’s FGS,” an animal lover demanded.
