Swans aren’t known for being the most benevolent of creatures. I’ve had at least a few wild ones chase me after getting too close and have a little scar on my pinky finger to prove it. But apparently, I just caught them on a bad day.
“Born to Explore” television host Richard Wiese was floored when an injured swan showed him some serious affection. Wiese was in England at the Abbotsbury Swannery, the largest collection of wild swans in the world, when this swan showed his softer side in an obvious display of trust.
“This lovely swan trusted me enough to wrap her neck around mine. She was injured at the time, but luckily she was delivered to Swan Lifeline, which is a charity devoted to the care of sick and injured swans in Windsor, England.”

“I pulled it to my chest and somehow it felt comfortable or safe,” Richard Wiese said. “I could feel its heart beating and it just relaxed its neck and wrapped it around mine.”
