Almost everyone can recognize a Canada goose. The species is protected in the United States under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). In Des Moines, Iowa, a man calling himself iBird Rescue One on TikTok keeps an eye on local flocks. He films his interactions and conservation efforts to help educate people. iBird Rescue One discovered a juvenile goose near a restaurant in Urbandale, Iowa, who hadn’t been able to eat for at least 24 hours. The young bird had a piece of landscape netting caught in its beak. According to the rescue worker, this is the second most common type of injury to Canada geese. Injuries related to fishing gear are the most common.
After trapping the goose, the rescue worker used scissors to cut the netting away from the bird’s beak. The young goose was afraid, but the rescuer was able to remove the netting. He gave the goose a quick check for cuts and swelling on its tongue.

As the rescue worker released the goose, the bird managed to express its gratitude by biting him on the ear. He scampered down to the pond to rejoin the flock.
In the caption, iBird Rescue One explains that if this type of landscape netting is visible, it is not in place correctly. Because it can be a danger to birds and other animals, he asks his fans to please pick it up and place it in a trash bin if they see it. Your efforts can help keep migratory birds safe.
