Prince Harald von Hohenzollern of Germany passed away just days before his first child’s birth. According to Hello!, Prince Harald suffered sudden cardiac arrest in Windhoek, Namibia, while working. He and his wife, Princess Josefa von Hohenzollern, married in September 2024 and looked forward to the birth of their first child. Princess Josefa von Hohenzollern, 51, shared the tragic news on Instagram in a post translated to English.

“Dear fellow citizens of Leonberg, today I am writing with a heavy heart.

My beloved husband Harald v. Hohenzollern died completely unexpectedly of a sudden cardiac death. This loss hits me very deep,” Princess Josefa shared. “I need time to grieve, say goodbye and be there for our unborn child. That’s why I will be stepping back from campaigning and social media in the coming days. I hope for your understanding during this time off and thank you from the bottom of my heart at this point for your condolences and support. Ihre Josefa v. Hohenzollern.”

The news of Prince Harald’s death came as a shock, and messages of kindness poured in for his wife and their unborn child.

“My deepest sympathy, i don’t find the right words I pray for you and your unborn child. Wishing you love, strength and comfort,” someone shared on Instagram.

“Dear Mrs. von Hohenzollern – my deeply felt sympathy. I wish you all the strength in the world,” another person wrote.

Many offered prayers for Princess Josefa in the wake of Prince Harald’s passing.
