It all began when Audrey, a mother of three, asked her neighbor Tisha, a mother of 4, if she’d watch her children during an overnight hospital stay for some testing. Tisha immediatly agreed, but the next day brought news that would change both family’s lives forever.
The next day, Audrey returned from the hospital with a cancer diagnosis that had progressed to stage two in her throat and stomach. Audrey thought she had at least a year to live, but after rapidly declining in less than a month, she asked her neighbor Trish a life changing question, “Will you become the legal guardian of my children?”Without hesitation, Trish agreed.
In that moment, a family of 7 became a family of 10.
Her decision was an easy one. Trish grew up in an orphanage and knows first hand the importance of a loving nuclear family. “I never want another child to experience what I had to go through,” she said.
Once again, the Fox5 Surprise squad heard about Trish’s incredible gesture and decided to do something wonderful for her. Hosts of the show arrived at Trish’s house and told her they were paying for some minor housework.

She was in tears over their small gesture and agreed to leave the house so they could work. But what they didn’t tell her was that they were going to do so much more. What they were able to accomplish in a few days changed the lives of Trish and her family forever.
