Woman Asks Twitter For Date To Sister’s Wedding, 3-Yrs-Later Marries The Stranger Who Responded.

Llia Apostolou first saw him while drinking with a friend on Valentine’s Day near her home in London. But it’s not what you think. They didn’t make eyes at each other from across the crowded pub, and they weren’t introduced through mutual friends — not directly, anyway. No, Llia first laid eyes on her beloved, Phil Gibson, after one of her friends retweeted him on her Twitter timeline.

“Pouting and wearing a party hat, you were sarcastically marking Valentine’s Day as a solidly single man,”she wrote in her blog. “I can’t explain what happened next, I felt something shift in my heart.â€

Now fast forward five months, to July 2014. Llia was still single and looking for a date to go with her to her sister’s wedding that month. So she took to Twitter, and Phil — whom she’d never actually met — took the bait.

Though they didn’t actually go to the wedding together, they did have their first face-to-face meeting just days before the nuptials — and the rest is history.

“I felt every cliché becoming real, like a line of falling dominos. (Every wish that I’d dared to admit to myself was coming true.),”she wrote.

Llia and Phil married earlier this month, almost exactly three years after she sent out that tweet fishing for a date to her sister’s wedding!
