Rescuers Scale Slick Rocks To Save Mom And Child From Raging Waterfall.

rescuers save woman and child from waterfall in India

The Anaivari Muttal waterfall in Tamil Nadu, India, recently reopened after a long closure due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, and tourists have been eager to take in the natural beauty of this eco-tourism spot. Unfortunately, sometimes a day in the mountains can turn deadly in the blink of an eye.

In a video shared online, rescue workers were called to the falls one Sunday afternoon to save a woman and her child. Officials say heavy rain often causes flash floods to form in the area with no notice. People who don’t know it rained on the other side of the mountain can get caught in the floodwaters, which is exactly what happened to these hapless tourists. Since the woman and her child were trapped by the raging river, the only way to rescue them was to scale down the slippery rocks and use a rope to haul them up to safety.

At the end of the video, two of the men who’d been helping with the rescue fell into the river. Rest assured, both of them were able to swim to the water’s edge, where they were rescued as well. No one was injured, but it sure was a close call!
