Toddler With Down Syndrome Recites ABC’s, Melts 13 Million Hearts

John David Marin of Alabama was born with Down syndrome. His 23-year-old mother, Hannah, has been taking the toddler to speech programs to help jump-start his delayed development. While practicing his ABC’s, John’s adorable recitation was too cute not to share, so his mother grabbed her camera to show the world his triumph.

“He was cracking all of us up,’ Hannah said. ‘I’m so proud of him and the fact that he’s able to bring awareness to [Down syndrome].”

Since Hannah uploaded the video to Facebook two days ago, it has wracked up an incredible 13 million views. It’s shown people all over the world, and those affected by Down Syndrome, that the disability is not nearly so limiting as you’d think.

‘People have a perception of Down syndrome, that it’s something that will hold them back,’ she said. ‘He has met such a milestone and it’s just amazing to watch. There’s so much more that we don’t know that he can do… [John David] has been such a joy to our lives.’
