The beloved singer took the stage at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to help kick off the 133rd annual Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign. The appearance marked Dolly’s first-ever NFL concert. In the past, she thought she was too small of an act to give the expected high-energy performance fans watch mid-game.
Dolly Parton’s Cowboys NFL Halftime Performance
Dolly proved her former opinion wrong. She gave a show that knocked people off their feet as she channeled her inner rocker. While wearing a Cowboys cheerleader uniform, Dolly opened her set with a few classics like 9 to 5 and Jolene. Then she moved into tracks from her new album, Rockstar, such as We Are the Champions.
Football and Dolly Parton fans alike have been raving on social media about the show ever since.
Dolly Parton had two good reasons for finally accepting a gig at a sporting event. First, her 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction gave her the courage to step outside her comfort zone. Second, she wanted to support a good cause. The Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign helps those in need during the Christmas season, and her show was a way of spreading awareness.
“Those Red Kettles have long been a symbol of hope for our friends and neighbors who are facing hard times,” Dolly Parton said in a statement after her Thanksgiving halftime show was initially announced. “My goal is to encourage everyone who can to donate and support their neighbors in need. Every small act of generosity helps, and together, we can all love our neighbors this holiday season and beyond.”
Dolly Parton donated a staggering $1 million to the campaign ahead of the Thanksgiving halftime show.
