TikTok has been responsible for many of the Internet’s most popular trends of late, but none of them is as heartwarming and wholesome as the #cuddlechallenge.
The trend started in late July and has only increased in viral fame since. The idea is to sneak up on a little one while they’re watching TV and snuggle with them while recording their reaction. The results are absolutely priceless!
We’re not surprised this precious challenge has taken off. After all, what parent doesn’t enjoy cuddling with their toddler? Their chubby faces are just too pure for this world.
As the camera rolls in clip after clip, the adoring parents sit next to their little ones while the kids are engrossed in their favorite television program. Then the moms and dads place their head in their child’s lap and wait to see what happens.
Some kids immediately start cuddling their parents right back, while others continue watching TV while smiling to themselves. Meanwhile, a few of them selflessly offer up their pacifier or stuffed animal to comfort their folks without saying a word.
Most of these challenge videos feature the song “Godspeed,” a Frank Ocean hit performed by James Blake.
So far, there are more than 4.1 million #cuddlechallenge attempts on TikTok, and the trend has already expanded to Twitter and other social media platforms.
Of course, not all toddlers are into cuddling. Some of the funniest clips feature a little one who is not at all interested in sharing a sweet moment with their mom or dad.
Teens and adults are getting in on the challenge too, often with hilarious results!
In one popular clip, a teenager attempts to cuddle with her mom at bedtime. Everything is going great until her dad comes along and literally steals the show!
It’s so sweet to see how kids react to spontaneous cuddling! While TikTok trends can be hit or miss, this is one we hope lasts for a long, long time.
