Company Designed Mannequins From “Disabled” People. Watch How People Respond When They See Them In Public.

Often, without even knowing it, we have extremely skewed views of beauty.  There is a certain stereotype that has wiggled its way into our brains and stood up as the pinnacle of something “gorgeous.”  It’s actually quite tragic.

Why? Because beauty goes SO far beyond one narrow mold.  In an effort to debunk the cultural idol of beauty, Pro Infirmis created this video entitled “Because Who Is Perfect?”  It features mannequins that shatter the myth of skinny/tall equaling “pretty.”

In the video, people walking on Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse notice something different. According to the Youtube description: “Between the perfect mannequins, there will be figures with scoliosis or brittle bone disease modelling the latest fashions. One will have shortened limbs; the other a malformed spine. The campaign has been devised for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.”

The idea is beautiful.

Some of the best comments on the video:

“Brought tears to my eyes, I have a scoliosis back… So amazing”

“This is an amazing and eye opening video. I wish this would become the normal in advertising.”

“Everyone is perfect . just embrace whatever you have n whatever you are .”
