Perseverance. Dedication. Hard work. That’s what it takes to be an Ironman triathlete. These are qualities the that each one of us should strive for in every part of our lives.
“It’s a lifestyle. It’s staying fit. It’s getting in shape. It’s an outlet for that competitive spirit… it’s everything you have. Even if that means walking 26 miles.” – Heather Jackson
The race consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon 26.2-mile run, raced in that order and without a break. To be honest, I’m a little tired just hearing that… but, on the other hand, Heather’s insight into how she prepares for each race – about pushing through the pain, staying focused, and making success a priority – makes me inspired to fight through the challenges in my own life.
