If you’ve ever wondered what the difference is between Irish Dance and tap dance, wonder no more. These dancers show both their live audience and almost 5 million online viewers, in the most hilarious and entertaining fashion, that fast footwork is pretty much the only thing they have in common.
“Tall and straight my Mother taught me, this is how we dance. Tall and straight my Father taught me, this is how we dance…” the narrator intones.
Two tap dancers start out at the top of a staircase, then skip with lighthearted ease down the steps, their arms and legs moving with seamless synchronicity to the delightful notes of a nearby sax player.
Then at 1:22, three men dressed in black slacks and white dress shirts enter stage right, eyeing the pair with barely disguised contempt. Moments later, they join in on the act but keep their upper bodies ramrod straight in step with Irish Dance tradition, essentially a human version of Happy Feet.
This is a dance competition you do not want to miss! And can you believe they kept at it for an entire eight minutes? Do you understand how incredibly hard that is?
