Boy With Entire Wardrobe Of Hero Costumes Uses “Superpowers” To Rescue Stray Cats.

A young boy succeeded where two adults failed, easily winning the affection of a feral cat that they’d spent the last couple years trying to catch. Could it be because he has superhero powers?

Philadelphia residents Kris Papiernik and her fiancée, Kia Griffin, have been trapping, spaying/neutering and releasing stray cats for the last 10 years. But they encountered one of their biggest challenges to date about four years ago, when they discovered two kittens in a driveway between a row of houses.

Lady was no problem — they caught her right away, got her spayed and up on her vaccines without a hitch — but her brother, Bug, managed to evade capture for two entire years.

Meanwhile, Kia’s young nephew, Shon Griffin, expressed an interest in helping out with the newly dubbed Kolony Kats operation.  At first, it didn’t sound like a good idea, Kris said, because “they’re feral cats, and we thought they’re going to run from a rambunctious 3-year-old.â€

But Shon wants to grow up to be a football player, veterinarian, “cat feeder”and Spiderman, they said, and you can’t wear that many hats without a lot of practice. So they brought him into the fold — and that’s when everything changed.

“It was the total opposite – they just gravitated to him,”Papiernik said. “He’d scratch their bellies and scratch their heads. It was amazing to see these cats who wouldn’t even allow us to touch them but immediately took to him. He must have this magical effect that the cats can pick up.â€

That Superman costume isn’t a one-time thing, either. He has an entire wardrobe of superhero outfits, and sometimes wears them while he’s taking care of his furry charges because “it makes him feel like a superhero for animals.”

For whatever reason, Bug wasn’t immune to this young man’s charms and snuggled up right away, which gave Kris and Kia the opportunity to get him neutered and vaccinated as well. He’s now become one of the friendliest cats in the colony!

Meanwhile, Kris and Kia have set up a GoFundMe page with hopes of raising enough money to relocate the roughly 50 cats now under their care.
