An LA-based photographer named Casey Elise Christopher and rescue-cat advocate is using her skills for a greater good, creating and releasing a heartfelt series of photos of blind cats in the hopes that the added publicity will lead them to their new homes.
Milo’s Sanctuary is a Burbank, Calif.-based nonprofit with a specific and heartfelt niche. Volunteers take in, care for and re-home cats with special needs – seniors and some that are terminally ill, but mostly those that are disabled.
Casey Elise Christopher’s series depicts haunting yet stunningly beautiful photos of adoptable cats that have lost their sight for various reasons, including neglect and abuse.
Daisy, a one-eyed pure white beauty who was rescued from a hoarding situation involving hundreds of animals, was among the subjects of her recent photo shoot.
Thomas Trueheart was horribly disfigured after somebody poured acid on his face.
Milo’s Sanctuary not only adopts out their lovable charges, but also operates a Lifetime Care Program, in which lifetime care – including medical – is provided for those cats that have been rescued but cannot be re-homed.
“All Milo’s cats receive medical care and anything else that they require to have the best quality of life we can give them for as long as we can,” they promise.
The non-profit sanctuary depends solely on a dedicated group of volunteers and donations. You can choose a cat in the Lifetime Care Program to sponsor here, or simply make a donation to help cover medical and other costs by clicking here.
