Soldier Travels 22 Hours To See Newborn. But Pay Attention To His Face As He Lifts Her Up… Beautiful!

Sgt. John Vorrath was serving in the Middle East when his wife went into labor. Determined to be involved with the experience as much as possible, he actually used FaceTime to watch the birth of his newborn daughter, Charlotte. But that just wasn’t enough for Vorrath.

Right after the excitement, John decided he couldn’t miss any more of this priceless moment. So he got on a plane and traveled twenty-two hours to reach his home in Des Moines. But he didn’t go home to get settled, he went straight to the hospital to see his wife. While Mrs. Vorrath sat in her room, talking to her mom and eating breakfast, she had no idea who was about to walk in the door.

When it registered that it was John, she immediately jumped up and they gave each other a beautiful embrace. Then the Sgt. turned immediately to his baby girl, only one day old, and picked her up as his face washed with emotions. Trying to hold in tears, all he can say is, “She’s so small.”

Still, the surprises continued. Fifteen minutes after meeting his daughter, John’s two-year-old son, who he hadn’t seen since his deployment, appeared in the doorframe. He had no idea either that his dad waited for him in the hospital room. At first there is confusion but soon enough he’s running to daddy for a jump and hug.

Seeing this family reunite for the first time in months touches your heart. Share the tear-jerking moment with a friend today.
