Also, according to Wikipedia, “the sport is distinguished from ice dancing and single skating by elements unique to pair skating, including overhead lifts, twist lifts, death spirals, and throw jumps.”
A couple at the 2013 Skate America competition encompassed every single on of those attributes and more. Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, the team from Russia, glide effortlessly across the rink and wow each person in the stands.
It’s no wonder that they were the reigning National, European, World and Olympic Champions at the time.
