If you search “things not to do at someone’s wedding” online, one of the first things you’ll see is “don’t get engaged.” It’s generally good advice because an upstaged bride is often an unhappy bride — unless, of course, it’s Sierra McGinty-Rush.
On November 2, Sierra married Tracey Rush in front of 300 of their closest friends and family members. Little did her guests know the marriage wasn’t the only life-changing event they’d gathered to witness.
Six months before Sierra’s big day, her brother Solomon McGinty told her that he wanted to propose to Baylee Gillmore, his girlfriend of three years.
Sierra was overjoyed by the news and wanted to make sure she saw it happen! So she came up with an idea: Solomon could propose to Baylee at her wedding. It was perfect because Baylee would never see it coming!
When the time came for the traditional bouquet toss, Sierra mixed things up. Instead of throwing the flowers over her shoulder, she turned and walked through the crowd of women who were (in theory) hoping to be the next person to tie the knot.
Of course, she headed straight to Baylee! As soon as she passed off the bouquet, Solomon stepped forward and got down on one knee. Everyone was thrilled to witness the magical moment, and Baylee was definitely surprised as she said yes.
Best of all, the sweet moment brought the beautiful bride nothing but joy! “If you know me and my brother’s relationship, then you would understand why I was more excited [than] they were!” she said. “Sharing Saturday with him just gave us more memories!”
It’s safe to say that Baylee is joining an incredible family, although her future sister-in-law might just be her favorite. What a wonderful celebration of love!
