Shaquille O’Neal Shows Up To A Street Basketball Game, What He Did Made Everyone’s Day!

A bogus noise complaint turned into a heartwarming moment when the “Basketball Cop” was dispatched to the scene.

The “Basketball Cop” or Officer White, as his department calls him, pulled his cruiser into a neighborhood to see a group of kids playing basketball in the street. Sure, they were loud and a little raucous, but what else would you expect?

Instead of shutting down their pickup game, Officer White jumped in and played along, asking them to be considerate as he left. The moment was caught on camera and the “Basketball Cop” was born.

White then promised the kids he’d soon be back with “reinforcements” from the police department to get a real game going, but what happened next absolutely blew my mind.

At a department meeting concerning the upcoming street game with the neighborhood kids, White looked up from his desk to see none other than Shaquille O’Neal walk through the front door. Shaq heard about the “Basketball Cop” and wanted to surprise White and his neighborhood ballers with the pickup game of a lifetime.

And so, Officer White, his fellow policemen and Shaq himself spent their afternoon playing streetball with a group of neighborhood kids.

Officer White declined an interview even after his “basketball cop” persona went viral on the web. The original video has been shared over 150,000 times, warming hearts all over.

The Takeaway: This was a great reminder of the good in the world. In a time when neighbor mistrusts neighbor and the world feels unsettled, it’s nice to know there are still kids playing pickup basketball, cops with good intentions, and celebrities with Shaq sized hearts in our midst.
