wants family together

People appear on popular TV singing competitions for all sorts of reasons. The most common goal is to launch a successful music career. Others want to provide a better life for themselves and loved ones.

But for a 13-year-old Filipino contestant onĀ Ireland’s Got Talent, the stakes were even higher. The judges asked Shaniah Rollo what she hoped to do with the prize money if she won the show.

Her answer?

I want to use the money for my brothers and sisters to [come] here, so we can be a whole family. Because I miss them so much.

At the side of the stage, Shaniah’s father could hardly hold back his tears as he was overcome with the emotion. You can tell how much this competition means to them.

With her heartfelt goal out in the open, there was nothing else for the teen to do but sing. After the music started, Shaniah launched into the Cyndi Lauper classic “True Colors.” Just like the lyrics, the young teen’s voice was “beautiful like a rainbow.”
