Robyn Brake was fully enjoying her Saturday at Dallas‘ Lake Ray Hubbard, riding her Jet Ski across the water without a care in the world on June 1. Then she saw the smoke.

The black clouds were billowing out from a nearby boat. Relaxation turned to panic as the mom-of-four rushed to warn the occupants. But before she could reach the boat, it burst into flames.

“I got to them, and it just blew in my face,” Robyn said. “Next thing I know, I go to the front of the boat, and the mother is holding her 6-week-old baby over the boat screaming, ‘I have a baby! Help!'”

Robyn knew she had to help, even if it meant risking her own safety. “I told my daughter, ‘I’ll be right back. I’ll be right back. I promise,'” she recalled. “I prayed to God that I would make it back.”

The Rockwall mom scooped up the baby and pulled another young girl onto her Jet Ski, hurrying them to safety. But her heroism didn’t end there.

After taking the infant and the girl to a nearby boat where her friend, Lacey Hoover, and her daughter, Autumn, waited inside, Robyn went straight back to the burning boat… not one, but two times. She ended up saving four children’s lives. While the boat sank, everyone aboard survived with minor injuries, thanks to their guardian angel in the flesh.

For her bravery, Robyn received the “STAR OF DFW” award from local radio hosts Leigh Ann and Jeremy of STAR 102.1 FM. But she still insists she “did what every other mom would do if they saw a family in distress with their children!”

But to the rest of us, this amazing woman will always be a hero. Nothing she says can convince us otherwise. Not everyone has the courage to race toward the fire, after all.
