No matter how many times we’ve checked and re-checked our belongings, something always seems to get lost along the way when we go on vacation.
Unfortunately for one little boy named Thompson, he accidentally left something far more important than a toothbrush or clothes behind. Thompson and his family recently visited Myrtle Beach State Park in South Carolina. When they packed up their things and headed home to Columbia, Thompson didn’t know he was missing his teddy bear — which ended up having an awesome adventure of its own.
As soon as Thompson’s family realized the bear was still in their cabin, they called the park to ask whether they’d found it and if they could send it back. Park rangers did find the stuffed animal and were more than happy to help… but they decided to have a little fun first.
For the few days Thompson was separated from his pal, the good-natured rangers took the bear all over the park. They snapped photos of the cuddly toy relaxing on the beach…
…checking out all the sights…
…and hanging out with its own personal tour guides. They sent all the pictures to Thompson before sending the bear on its way, too.
The park shared the photos on Facebook as well, writing, “We hope Thompson (and his bear) enjoyed!” The little boy certainly did and sent an adorable photo of his own thanking them for taking such good care of his friend.
“Thank you for keeping my bear for a few days.
Thousands viewed and shared the photos on social media, commenting to thank the park rangers for making a little boy’s day.
“What a sweet, caring thing to do! I know he loved it!” one person wrote.
Another added, “Most endearing! Those rangers rock.”
What started as a panicked realization turned into a memory this kid will cherish forever. Great job, rangers, for going above and beyond to make a child happy. Share this sweet story with anyone whose day needs brightening.
