Puppy Refuses To Leave Sick Sister, Vet Catches Him Comforting Her In Sweetest Way.

If you’ve ever seen two sibling pups together, you know they truly understand they are family, not just playmates. They have a real bond with each other and will protect one another from anything they can.

In late August, two very sick sibling puppies arrived at the Africano Centre, a veterinary clinic in Cairo, Egypt. It didn’t take long for that puppy brother and sister bond to become apparent to the professionals treating them.

The dogs, one female and one male, arrived at the clinic and were diagnosed with Parvo, a serious viral illness found in puppies. The illness affects the gut, intestines, lymphopoietic tissues, bone marrow, and sometimes the heart.

While the virus can be life threatening, 62-98% of dogs treated by veterinary professionals survive the illness – and chances are greatest if they survive the first 3-4 days.

When Dr. Mohammad Bu Yahya began treating the dogs, they were in pretty rough shape. After four days of treatment the male dog was doing significantly better, but the female was still suffering.

Dr. Bu Yahya cared for them “night and day” and at one point when he went to check on the dogs, he found the male pup snuggled on his sister and comforting her with a look of sadness in his eyes.

Dr. Bu Yahya posted a video of the dogs’ warm embrace online and said, “[the brother] shows the love and care for his sister and is asking us to take care of her.”

The brother did right by his sister, because after a few more days of treatment and TLC, both dogs made full recoveries and are back to health! Thanks to Dr. Bu Yahya, the two dogs have many more play dates (and hopefully snuggles) in their future.
