Mother Of Fallen Soldier Receives A Surprise That Brings Back Memory Of Her Son

When Candida Torre got in an accident in her late son José’s car, she never thought she’d see it again. The vehicle was so damaged it was deemed a “total loss.”

José was killed while serving as an Army specialist in Iraq back in 2011, so this was devastating news because Candida wanted to keep anything and everything she could to remember her son.

But everything changed because of the kindness of the police officer at the scene of her accident, John Baggs. Officer Baggs, whose own father died while serving in Vietnam, noticed the dog tags around Candida’s neck and the gold license plates, and knew he had to do something to help out.

From that moment, people came together in an act of incredible act of love. The insurance company, AAA, decided to donate the car to Baggs instead of selling it off to him. Then, the folks under David Perez at the local Calliber Collision donated their service to fully repair the car, some $15,000 and hundreds of hours of work.

It all came to a head when the car was revealed to Candida at a Veteran’s Day event. The emotion of the moment is truly beautiful.

Here’s the Takeaway: Only when you’re perceptive of people’s situations around you will you see and act upon opportunites to help out. Listen, have compassion and then act on it and you can impact someone’s life.

Watch the sweet surprise as Candida receives a gift she’ll never forget.
