Cute Cop’s Adorable Voice While Talking To Rescued Kitten Will Make You Melt.

Discretion is a big part of the equation when police officers are deciding whether to ticket drivers for speeding and other traffic violations. Fortunately for one driver who was rocketing along a Virginia highway, Officer McGuire decided to err on the side of compassion.

The Henrico County police officer noticed a little black kitten running along the grass median on Interstate 64 and quickly jumped into action, afraid that she’d be run over. Body cam footage shows Officer McGuire walking along the median, then slowly reaching down into a pile of straw.

Good thing kittens can’t be charged with assault and battery on a peace officer, because this frightened little fur ball literally fought his rescuer tooth and claw.

Walking back toward the driver who he’d just pulled over, he says: “You know what ma’am, here’s your license back. You’re good to go, OK. Just make sure you slow down.”

Using a soothing and calming “kitty” voice, Officer McGuire swaddled the kitten in a towel and brought her to the local animal control agency. Staff there checked the kitty over, then held onto her until she could either be claimed by her owners or adopted to a loving family.

The incident happened in early December and since word got out via social media, readers and viewers have nothing but good things to say about this officer’s decision to let the driver go and instead save the kitten from a dangerous situation:

Meanwhile, the Henrico Police Department stands behind Officer McGuire’s actions that day, saying he “did what he did because he thought the kitten was going to get hit by a car. More often than not, officers put themselves at risk to save others.”
