Vet Helps Terrified Rescue Dog Come Out Of Her Shell By Sharing A Meal With Her.

People who work with rescue animals are used to going the extra mile to help abandoned and abused pets. When veterinarian Andy Mathis first saw a pit bull named Graycie Claire in 2016, she weighed only 20 pounds and was anemic, emaciated, and hypothermic. She was rushed to Granite Hills Animal Care in Elberton, Georgia, after someone found her on the side of the road, but she was in such bad shape that her rescuers weren’t sure she would recover.

Still, they worked hard to nurse her back to health and help her overcome her fear of humans, but the traumatized pup refused to eat. One morning, Andy decided to try a new approach. He put his own food into a dog bowl and crawled into Graycie’s kennel with her.

At first, she seemed ready to ignore the bowl of food in front of her. But after a few moments of watching Andy, her interest was piqued. Andy fed her a few bites from his hand, and at long last, she began to eat on her own!

Thanks to the vet’s kindness and empathy, Graycie made a full recovery! Watch Andy have a celebratory meal with her a year later in the video below, and don’t forget to share this moving story.
