Teen Piggly Wiggly Worker Finds $300 Cash & His Response Gives World Hope.

We’ve all had that panicked moment when you realize you’ve misplaced something valuable. Whether it’s your wallet or your smart phone, the sinking feeling of dread instantly floods your body with stress hormones.

Shelia Spencer of Birmingham, Alabama experienced that awful feeling after a recent trip to her local Piggly Wiggly. Shelia had stopped to pick up a few supplies on her way home from work, but when she got home she found that her phone and her wristlet, which contained $270 in cash, was missing.

Shelia’s mind instantly jumped to the worst case scenario, and she was convinced that someone had found her belongings and disappeared with her hard-earned money without a trace. To make matters worse, $200 of the cash in her wristlet belonged to her daughter and was earmarked to get her car registered.

Shelia picked up the phone and frantically called the store, only to discover something incredible.

“I called them and true enough my wristlet and phone were there,” the ecstatic lady wrote on Facebook. “What is even more astonishing is, I had all my money in the wristlet and my iPhone.”

When Shelia asked who had turned in the valuables to the lost and found, she learned that a store employee named Anthony Starr was the hero who’d saved the day. Shelia immediately knew she had to do something to thank Anthony for his honesty and ethics.

“Anthony is a teenager at Central Park Christian,” Shelia wrote in a Facebook post. “I went to bless Anthony today with $100.00, and I also called his mom Joyce to tell her what a great job she was doing with her son. His mom cried tears of joy.

“We hear very little about kids when they do something positive, it’s always lots of talk about the bad things that happen. Let’s make this post go viral, to show other young men and ladies that there is honor in doing the right thing.”

For his part, Anthony didn’t think what he did was any big deal. “I thought about how I would feel if it was my stuff and was stolen from me. I would be devastated,” he said. “So I thought about her and I returned it.”

The grateful grandmother shared her story on Facebook, inspiring a flurry of praise for this young man who did the right thing in spite of the temptation lying before him. Soon her wish to “make this go viral” was granted, and Shelia is more determined than ever to give back to Anthony and his family.

“Getting to know this young man and his wonderful family, you can see immediately where his ethics, and morals come from,” Shelia wrote in a follow-up Facebook post. She has now started a GoFundMe to help Anthony with his future college costs.

What you do when no one is looking is the very foundation of moral fiber, and Anthony passed this test with flying colors! Let’s never forget that for every negative story we hear about today’s youth, there are also kids like Anthony out there who are quietly doing the right thing every day.
