St. Louis Paramedics Ditch Ambulance In Icy Weather, Push Patient Uphill To Hospital.

Jon Stillpass and Shaylor Taetz have been St. Louis firefighter paramedics for seven years. In that time, they’ve seen just about everything… but not this.

The pair responded to a call about a bus that had spun out on a patch of ice. Only the driver was in the bus, and she was shaken up by the ordeal and needed to go to the hospital for evaluation.

Stillpass and Taetz got her in the ambulance, and that’s when the trouble started: Even after salting the ice and putting chains on their tires, the ambulance started to slide on the ice, too.

That’s when Taetz turned to Stillpass and said, “Let’s just huff it.”

The duo braved the cold to push their patient a mile to DePaul Hospital, over two large hills.

DePaul nurse Carol Parks snapped a photo of the paramedics pushing their patient uphill, and it’s nothing short of inspiring.

Kudos to Stillpass and Taetz for showing us what determination and care truly looks like!
