Dancer Couldn’t Hear Music, But Makes ‘Dancing With Stars’ History With Show-Stopping Final Routine

According to the National Health Interview Survey, 600,000 people in the US are totally deaf. But even still, there are few social accommodations made for those who cannot hear. Though steps have been made to raise awareness for the deaf, few have been able to give them a voice. Luckily the community has been able to raise awareness because of one Dancing With The Stars contestant, who has triumphed and spread his message in the most beautiful way.

Nyle DiMarco is a successful model, actor, and activist for deafness. The incredibly talented 27 year old was the first deaf contestant and eventual winner of America’s Next Top Model. After sweeping the nation with his inspiring story, Nyle was invited to this year’s Dancing With The Stars competition, and the results have been incredible.

Nyle and his partner, professional dancer Petra Murgatroyd, managed to sweep the competition despite Nyle’s condition. Though Nyle is completely deaf, the talented performer is able to feel the music and beat through the floor.

Time and time again, the dynamic duo eliminated their competitors one by one… until this final and epic performance.

Each of the three professional judges were so impressed by his and Petra’s performance that they gave the routine a perfect 10. For Nyle, the emotional moment was surely one of the greatest defining moments of his life.
