People who work in nursing are some of the most compassionate individuals around. Just ask their patients.
While nobody really enjoys having to go to the hospital, one elderly woman had a great time during her recent stay thanks to the sweet lady taking care of her. Mikea Braden is a nursing technician at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, but she could easily change her profession to “singer” after a performance for her patient went viral.
Olivia Kilburn was visiting her grandmother, Patsy Tate, in the hospital recently when she witnessed the touching moment. Mikea was in Patsy’s room at the time, humming as she worked. Olivia’s grandfather noticed and said, “I bet you know ‘Amazing Grace!'” Indeed, she did. Olivia whipped out her phone and recorded as Mikea began singing for Patsy and her family. They were blown away by her voice.
Mikea’s rendition of the classic hymn is soft and gentle, yet powerful in its delivery. It’s clear she feels the gospel song in her heart as she croons the familiar lyrics. “That was good,” Olivia’s grandpa says, emphasizing each word as Mikea tapers off the tune and finishes.
Olivia shared the footage on Facebook, writing that her grandma was “blessed with the best nurse tech.” Viewers couldn’t agree more, pointing out Mikea’s beautiful voice and praising her for going above and beyond to brighten Patsy’s day.
“NOW THIS is what it means to be in the profession to help people! God bless her,” one person wrote. Another added, “Just beautiful! Medicine for the soul.” “Gave me chills,” yet another commented. “Beautiful voice and what a beautiful lady inside and out!”
Something tells us Mikea is everyone’s favorite nursing tech at St. Thomas West. Listen to her moving rendition of “Amazing Grace” in the video below, and don’t forget to share her talent with the world.
