Meet Nala, The Rescue Cat Who Is So Popular That She Won A Guinness World Record.

Guinness World Records has been settling pub arguments for over 60 years now.

In 2020, they added a category for our changing times: Most Followers on Instagram for a Cat. The winner of this superlative was Nala Cat, a Siamese-tabby mix with over 4.3 million fans on the ‘gram. Check out some of the adorable photos that have made her so famous below!

1. Nala lives with her owners, Varisiri “Pookie” Methachittiphan and Shannon Ellis, in Los Angeles, California.

2. Pookie adopted Nala from an animal shelter when she was just a 5-month-old kitten.

3. Her sister in Thailand suggested she start an Instagram to capture Nala’s cuteness.

4. Pookie did so on a whim, and it was an instant success.

5. Nala is incredibly photogenic! Her favorite things are cardboard boxes, treats, and anything that crinkles.

6. Pookie loves dressing her up in various costumes. She looks amazing in everything!

7. “Nala’s personality is cute, sweet, funny, silly,” Shannon said.

8. “She’s the queen!” Shannon added. “She spreads happiness. She knows she’s famous but is still humble.”

9. Shannon and Pookie first met because of Nala.

10. She’s basically the world’s cutest little “matchmaker.”

11. In addition to her many sponsored deals, Shannon and Pookie hope to use Nala’s fame to promote pet education.

12. “We really think it’s important to educate kids and families about proper pet parenting. And I think if we do it right we could change future within a generation.”

13. “Sometimes I think that you share your heart and your home with someone, you change and you grow more when you adopt a rescue.”

14. They hope more people will consider adoption to find all of the future feline superstars their forever homes.

15. “We all need to do our part,” Shannon said. “As a community we can save them all!”

Congratulations, Nala! We’re sure Pookie never imagined she would have a Guinness World Record holder living in her house. You just never know what you’ll discover when you head to your local animal shelter!
