For busy moms, it’s easy to feel there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. This often causes them to rush from place to place.
That was the situation for an overwhelmed mom named Ayla Hemeon. Alya was hurrying to her parents’ place to drop off a pumpkin. She was accompanied by her daughter, Tara, who’d helped her carve it.
The plan was to get the pumpkin to her parents as quickly as possible. Then to rush home so Tara “could finish her homework.”
But not all best-laid plans work out the way you’d expect. As the South Carolinian mom was driving along, she looked up and saw flashing lights in her rearview mirror!
“I didn’t realize I was going over the speed limit until I got pulled over,” Ayla said in a Facebook post. When the officer politely asked if there was a “lawful reason” for her speeding, Alya admitted that there wasn’t.
“I just shook my head and explained what I was doing – hurrying to drop off the pumpkin so we could get home and work on homework.”
When the policeman went back to his car and began writing, Ayla just knew she was getting a ticket. Instead, the officer told her he’d be letting her off with a warning. But that’s not all he did.
The kind police officer gave Ayla this note:
“Thanks for all that you do. You could have spent Sunday alone but you’re spending it helping your parents and daughter. Have a good day.”
Ayla was surprised and touched. “I can honestly say it made me tear up. This officer made my day.”
Yes, it’s tough being a mom, and it’s often a thankless job. So when a total stranger takes the time to make a mother feel appreciated, it’s truly a moment one doesn’t forget.
