Mischievous Panda Cubs Just Want To Play, Refuse To Let Caretaker Rake Leaves In Peace.

Since 2008, 30-year-old Mei Yan has worked as a nanny of sorts at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Chengdu, China. There, she cares for nine panda cubs who are all less than a year old, as well as one adult panda. That means she’s in charging of cleaning and disposing of more than 100 lbs. of panda poop each day, and hauling around 100 lbs. of fresh bamboo for the adults to much on.

“I have definitely gained some muscle over the years,”she said.

She wakes at 6 a.m. each day to ensure all the cubs are fed — including bottle feeding the four that are no longer breastfeeding — then hauling in the bamboo shoots for the adults’ breakfast.

Yan rose to Internet fame recently, when video surfaced that shows her job, while entertaining to the rest of us, isn’t quite as easy as it seems. Ever tried to feed a bunch of squirming puppies or kittens — or children — in an orderly fashion?

Same concept here, except these babies are much bigger (the biggest cubs weigh 28 lbs.).
